First, WELCOME!!!

We are thrilled you’ll be joining us in the fun sport of dog agility and to get started with us, here’s what you’ll need to know:

ADMINISTRATIVE ‘STUFF’:

  • Don’t forget to read and sign the Spot On Agility Release Form, which is required to participate.
  • In case you need Directions.
  • As a reminder, here is a link to our Training & Facility Policies which includes important information such as Dog Health & Character requirements, Payment information, Refund policy, Missed Class Policy as well as our Referral Rewards Program.

FACILITY THINGS TO KNOW:

  • Feel free to park in the back of the building and enter the rear door that is closest to the fence.
  • POTTY your dog at home and prior to entering the building. Sure, they may have done their business at home, but  the excitement of the car ride and/or class can ‘make things happen’.
  • If you arrive before 6:00 p.m., stop by and see Melinda, the FairyTails groomer, for a FREE nail trim! Yes, I said FREE!!!!!
  • Please remember there may be a class in session when you arrive, so try to enter as stealth-like as possible.
  • Be sure to read about our fun Open Agility Practice where you can come and practice your agility skills!

Additional Items To Keep In Touch:
  • Please take a moment to join the student Yahoo Group List. This conversational-style list allows me to personally share announcements, special items, general thoughts and information as well as help to build a local community by promoting communication between students.
  • Separately, you’ll also receive an e-mail asking you to confirm a subscription to Spot On Agility’s mailing list. This is the company’s formal communications which shares product offers, discounts and other company opportunities to everyone world-wide.
  • Last, but not least, knowing Seattle’s interactions with the sometimes temperamental Mother Nature, we have created a Weather Notifications page. If you would like an update on agility events and wonder about cancellations due to weather, this is the page to go to.

BRING TO CLASS – FOR YOUR DOG:

Consider not feeding your dog 5+ hours prior to class since full tummies are not so fun to run on. Plus, a semi-hungry dog can be easier to train.

Treats - LOTS of small, tasty and easy to chew treats. Lots of them. Did we mention a lot? So, what kind of treats? Some options are:

  • String Cheese
  • Cut up hot dogs (one of our clients microwaves or bakes them so they’re a bit more dried up, but still tasty to dogs and not so slippery on fingers)
  • Here are a few other favorites:

  • Heartland Dog Treats – found at the store located at the front entrance of our building, or you can order online HERE.
Toys - if your dog loves a toy(s), likes to fetch or play tug, then bring the fun to class! Some options are:

Other Doggy Items:

  • A dog bowl and water. If you happen to forget water, there is a bathroom sink available for dog watering.
  • Please bring a regular leash (not a flexi).
  • A regular collar (if you use a training collar, you may bring both).
  • If while walking a course or listening to the instructor your dog may not remain in a stay, please feel free to bring your own kennel/crate as there will NOT be hooks available for ‘holding’ dogs.

BRING TO CLASS – FOR THE HUMAN:

  • It’s a good idea to understand the physical demands of agility. Sure it’s FUN, but it’s always best to know what you’re getting yourself into.

What To Wear:

  • Athletic shoes! Foot comfort is one of the most important things in agility. While we have a foot-friendly 1″ padded floor, you are standing on your feet quite a bit, so consider purchasing a great pair of gym shoes.
  • Comfortable clothing. Something that handlers can comfortably move, run, jog, bend, crawl and feel comfortable getting dog hair on.

Other Human Items:

  • WATER! Yeap, being a healthy handler is pretty easy and it starts with water, so bring some for yourself.  Also remember, if you need something, there is a people drink and food section in the store located at the front entrance.
  • We do provide chairs for your comfort, but don’t expect to sit very much in agility.
  • A FUN attitude! Class is a place to enjoy your dog, socialize with other doggy-owners and to learn and play the FUN game of agility with other dog-lovers.

If you have ANY questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

We look forward to seeing you soon!
